More than likely it was a slow, uneventful shift and the LEO was trying to stir something out of nothing and you happened to be the one that was the accessory to their antics. They can claim up one wall and down the other that they just wanted to see if the throttle/steering/braking check was safely working or a procedural/safety check. Always remain respectful and you will always have an easier time even if you end up before a judge. Many happy miles to you and yours.
