We had a patient in rehab after she had a stroke and was lying immobilized on the floor for 8 days before the postman notified the police and she was rescued. It turned out her son, who lived across the street, was mentally disabled and didn’t know how or whether to summon help, but he did bring her food and drink. As she was getting some of her strength back on the ward, she still showed signs of dementia.
