I was bewildered, and I’m guessing my transparent behavior made him see he had the wrong kid. So, I left his office, thinking terribly of myself, like I had done something wrong when I had not. I still think of his ugly face and how all could have been avoided if he had just checked with other teachers about me, or checked my grades. He never called me back in.
