I had several teachers growing up that would keep the entire class just to make a point to a handful of students. They somehow thought if the entire class was punished that the punishment would change the problem student’s behavior. That was never the case. If anything, it just let the misbehaved students know that they would not be alone after school. I absolutely hated it.
