On my first day at work, I wore a pair of flared jeans, a slightly more formal t-shirt and ballerina shoes. I felt it was a casual look, but it actually looked quite formal, compared to the company’s style. I ended up looking really out of place and at some point, the store manager asked to talk to me. She said that my outfit wasn’t appropriate and had I dressed that way at my interview, she wouldn’t have hired me.
