When I started managing other professional licensing people, I realized how hard it was for me to confront people. I had to fire people. Not often, but with so many people, there will always be a few who will not do the job. I used to be physically sick for about a week before I fired anyone. Believe me, I did not do it lightly or unreasonably. Anybody I fired needed to go. But, I worried about their families and their feelings.
