The next call was back to the hospital. At midnight. I asked if I could talk to Joyce in the maternity ward. She was my midnight nurse after I delivered and we had a meaningful conversation or two. I thought she may remember me. Next, I called the hospital where I delivered. Asked to be transferred to the record room. Talked to the worker, who thought I was nuts when I asked if he could pull my file and see if the newborn paperwork had been filed.
