Oh… one other point… there is something called “fact finding.” It’s one of those steps along the way to a potential strike. It seems that the “fact-finder” (a supposedly neutral party) came down on the side of the district. That makes it sound like the teachers are just money-grubbers, right? Except that the fact-finder’s report included “bizarre statements about the contract’s impact on the next mayoral election.”[3] This is per the union president’s announcement, which could just be a self-serving statement, but would it really surprise anyone to find that politicians were putting their own interests before children?
