Her freshman-year roommate was actually a sophomore who was on academic probation for failing most of her classes her freshman year. There’s nothing wrong with that… people fail sometimes, and good on the roommate for not giving up, right? Over the year, my daughter’s roommate told her that she (the roommate) was on a full needs-based scholarship: dorm room, meal plan, tuition… everything. She was being given a free college education and then some because of her family’s circumstances.
