One of the last anti-Chinese riots in this country was in the state; and the majority of African Americans who do live in the state, live in and around F.E. Warren Air Force Base or in nearby Laramie and are students or employees at the University of Wyoming. Since there wasn’t a “welcome mat” put out for minorities, not many have willingly moved to the state and helped to grow the population.
