My manager’s manager called me up. He told me how valuable I was and how they wanted to keep me. He asked what it would take to keep me. I explained that I was taking an offer that paid 40% more. As of Monday, I am making significantly more. So, start there and hire me away. He asked for a number. I gave him a number nearly 80% more than I was making. Yes, I didn’t want a counter offer.
